Ace Nigerian female pop and RnB singer, Seyi Shay shared
her views on nudity in music videos and also added that she
can never go nude in any of her music videos though she
can be trendy in an interview with Encomium Weekly
The ‘Crazy’ star said:
“I’ve never been nude in any of my
videos, I’ve just been trendy…I don’t stand for it, I don’t think
it’s tasteful. But I do think that everybody has a right to their
own creative expression. I’m not going to be nude in my
videos, I promise”
She further added that the nudity can be curbed if the
influential ones act right.
“I actually think that we can correct it in the industry
generally if the trend setters and influential people start
buying into the idea of people being covered up.
We as Nigerians we are very hypocritical, nobody’s talking
about what these men and women do behind closed doors,
in settings where there are no cameras. We just scrutinize
and criticize people who are just working, making their
money.
We can change the whole view on TV and it would still be
cool. I’m not hypocritical, what happens behind closed
doors? I could cover up and all my peers could do the same,
but it still won’t change what happens when there are no
cameras” said Seyi Shay .
