Breakups are hard, but Ariana Grande says she
didn’t have a hard time moving on from Big Sean .
The singer, who broke things off with the rapper in
April after eight months of dating, tells V magazine
that she didn’t have difficulties filming Scream Queens
amid the high-profile split. Speaking with
showrunner Ryan Murphy, Grande, 22, explains that
she had no problems shooting the TV series and
working on her new album because she was
already over the breakup before either projects
began.
“You know, people found out quite a while after it
actually happened. By the time I was writing the
new album, I had kind of moved on,” she says. “It’s
not going to be captured on the album too much.
I’m in a happy place. There aren’t any breakup
anthems because I had moved on. I was like,
alright. Well, fuck it.”
“I’m good at making the best out of something,”
she continues about life after the split. “It also
wasn’t that hard for me, because we were friends.
So it’s chill.”
Though Grande, who is now dating backup dancer
Ricky Alvarez , didn’t have a tough time getting over
Big Sean, she admits she still doesn’t have any good
advice when it comes to handling failed
relationships.
“I have no breakup advice,” she quips. “I’m not
going to pretend I have great breakup advice. It’s
hard. Good luck. You’ll be fine. You don’t need
anyone. It’s nice to have someone that makes you
happy, but it’s nice to be happy on your own as
well. You don’t need to depend on another person
for your happiness. That person can contribute to
your happiness, but you’re two whole beings on
your own. You can make each other glow, like you
just ran through one of those rainbow stars in
Mario Brothers, but you’re still completely capable,
sufficient, and beautiful, and can be happy on your
own.”
