Wife of Yoruba Legend Chief Obafemi Awolowo; Hannah Awolowo Dies At Age 99

Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, the wife of
one of Nigeria's most respected politicians,
Obafemi Awolowo died earlier today. Mrs.
Awolowo, who was 99 years old, achieved great
fame and respect as a confidante of her late
husband and custodian of his tremendous
political and cultural legacy.

Sahara reporters reported that the matriarch of the Awolowo family
died in her sleep in her country home of Ikenne
in Ogun state.

Mrs. Awolowo's grand daughter
is the wife of Nigeria's current Vice President,
Prof. Yemi Osibanjo.
